Beschreibung Practical Relativity: From First Principles to the Theory of Gravity (English Edition)
The book is intended to serve as lecture material for courses on relativity at undergraduate level. Although there has been much written on special relativity the present book will emphasize the real applications of relativity. In addition, it will be physically designed with the use of box summaries so as to allow easy access of practical results. The book will be composed of eight chapters. Chapter 1 will give an introduction to special relativity that is the world without gravity. Implications will be presented with emphasis on time dilation and the Doppler shift as practical considerations. In Chapter 2, the four-vector representation of events will be introduced. The bulk of this chapter will deal with flat space dynamics. This will require the generalization of Newton's first and second laws. Some important astronomical applications will be discussed in Chapter 3 and in Chapter 4 some engineering applications of special relativity such as atomic clocks will be presented. Chapter 5 will be dedicated to the thorny question of gravity. The physical motivation of the theory must be examined and the geometrical interpretation presented. Chapter 6 will present astronomical applications of relativistic gravity. These include the usual solar system tests; light bending, time delay, gravitational red-shift, precession of Keplerian orbits. Chapter 7 will be dedicated to relativistic cosmology. Many of the standard cosmological concepts will be introduced, being mathematically simple but conceptually subtle. The concluding chapter will be largely dedicated to the global positioning system as an engineering problem that requires both inertial and gravitational relativity. The large interferometers designed as gravitational wave telescopes will be discussed here.

Lecture Notes on General Relativity Columbia University ~ General Relativity is the classical theory that describes the evolution of systems under the e ect of gravity. Its history goes back to 1915 when Einstein postulated that the laws of gravity can be expressed as a system of equations, the so-called Einstein equations. In order
Relativity: The Special and General Theory - ibiblio ~ The general theory of relativity, together with the necessary parts of the theory of invariants, is dealt with in the author’s book Die Grundlagen der allgemeinen Relativitätstheorie (The Foundations of the General Theory of Relativity) — Joh. Ambr. Barth, 1916; this book assumes some familiarity with the special theory of relativity. v
Theory of relativity - Wikipedia ~ The theory of relativity usually encompasses two interrelated theories by Albert Einstein: special relativity and general relativity. Special relativity applies to all physical phenomena in the absence of gravity.General relativity explains the law of gravitation and its relation to other forces of nature. It applies to the cosmological and astrophysical realm, including astronomy.
Criticism of the theory of relativity - Wikipedia ~ Criticism of the theory of relativity of Albert Einstein was mainly expressed in the early years after its publication in the early twentieth century, on scientific, pseudoscientific, philosophical, or ideological bases. Though some of these criticisms had the support of reputable scientists, Einstein's theory of relativity is now accepted by the scientific community.
8 Ways You Can See Einstein's Theory of Relativity in Real ~ The theory is deceptively simple. First, there is no "absolute" frame of reference. Every time you measure an object's velocity, or its momentum, or how it experiences time, it's always in .
General relativity - Wikipedia ~ General relativity, also known as the general theory of relativity, is the geometric theory of gravitation published by Albert Einstein in 1915 and is the current description of gravitation in modern physics.General relativity generalizes special relativity and refines Newton's law of universal gravitation, providing a unified description of gravity as a geometric property of space and time or .
Physics for Kids: Theory of Relativity ~ You can learn more about two very important aspects of the theory of relativity on this page about the speed of light and time dilation. Special Relativity There are two main ideas that make up Einstein's theory of special relativity. 1. The principle of relativity: The laws of physics are the same for any inertial reference frame. 2. The principle of the speed of light: The speed of light in .
SPECIAL RELATIVITY - Stony Brook University ~ SPECIAL RELATIVITY (Einstein 1905) Based on two postulates: The RELATIVITY PRINCIPLE: the laws of physics are the same in all inertial frames. The CONSTANCY OF THE SPEED OF LIGHT: the speed of light, c=299,792 km/s, is the same for all inertial observers, independent of their velocity of motion relative to the source of light.
Tests of general relativity - Wikipedia ~ Tests of general relativity serve to establish observational evidence for the theory of general relativity. The first three tests, proposed by Albert Einstein in 1915, concerned the "anomalous" precession of the perihelion of Mercury, the bending of light in gravitational fields, and the gravitational redshift. The precession of Mercury was already known; experiments showing light bending in .

Relativity Visualized: The Gold Nugget of Relativity Books ~ I prefer the first edition to the current one; the hardcover is nice, but the paperback edition with the maroon cover has the answers to the problems at the back of the book. If you want a look at Einstein's papers, they're available in paperback from Dover, The Principle of Relativity. In closing, I will mention The Einstein Theory of Relativity: A Trip to the Fourth Dimension by Lillian .

Relativity: The Special and the General Theory (Englisch ~ The first chapters of the book on the general theory of relativity are easy to approach even for those with no background in physics, featuring only little math and easy to relate to examples. More math and complexity comes in the later stages of the book introducing the general theory of relativity and may be hard to grasp even with a basic background in physics. Noticeably the book is a .

Theory / Definition of Theory by Oxford Dictionary on ~ ‘Eventually Einstein's general relativity theory explained the phenomenon in terms of a distortion of the fabric of space by the Sun's gravity.’ ‘But bundle theory is supposed to explain the structure of things on a metaphysical, not scientific level.’ ‘He is regarded as the founder of the general functionalist theory of the social system.’ ‘Hypotheses and theories are generally .
History of special relativity - Wikipedia ~ And in an important overview article on the relativity principle (1908a), Einstein described SR as a "union of Lorentz's theory and the relativity principle", including the fundamental assumption that Lorentz's local time can be described as real time. (Yet, Poincaré's contributions were rarely mentioned in the first years after 1905.) All of those expressions, (Lorentz-Einstein theory .
