Beschreibung Stochastic Finite Elements: A Spectral Approach (English Edition)
This monograph considers engineering systems with random parame ters. Its context, format, and timing are correlated with the intention of accelerating the evolution of the challenging field of Stochastic Finite Elements. The random system parameters are modeled as second order stochastic processes defined by their mean and covari ance functions. Relying on the spectral properties of the covariance function, the Karhunen-Loeve expansion is used' to represent these processes in terms of a countable set of un correlated random vari ables. Thus, the problem is cast in a finite dimensional setting. Then, various spectral approximations for the stochastic response of the system are obtained based on different criteria. Implementing the concept of Generalized Inverse as defined by the Neumann Ex pansion, leads to an explicit expression for the response process as a multivariate polynomial functional of a set of un correlated random variables. Alternatively, the solution process is treated as an element in the Hilbert space of random functions, in which a spectral repre sentation in terms of the Polynomial Chaoses is identified. In this context, the solution process is approximated by its projection onto a finite subspace spanned by these polynomials.

A Spectral Formulation of Stochastic Finite Elements ~ The stochastic finite element method is a procedure for performing such an analysis, whereby the spatial extent of the structure has been represented within the context of the finite element method. This chapter describes a recent implementation of the stochastic finite element method that combines theoretical rigor with generality and efficiency of implementation. Specifically, the Spectral .

Stochastic process - Wikipedia ~ One approach for avoiding mathematical construction issues of stochastic processes, proposed by Joseph Doob, is to assume that the stochastic process is separable. Separability ensures that infinite-dimensional distributions determine the properties of sample functions by requiring that sample functions are essentially determined by their values on a dense countable set of points in the index .
Pol D. Spanos – Wikipedia ~ Pol Dimitrios Spanos (* 27.Februar 1950 in Messini, Peloponnes, Griechenland) ist ein US-amerikanischer Ingenieur.. Finite element method - Wikipedia ~ Spectral element methods combine the geometric flexibility of finite elements and the acute accuracy of spectral methods. Spectral methods are the approximate solution of weak form partial equations that are based on high-order Lagrangian interpolants and used only with certain quadrature rules.
Numerical Methods for Fluid Dynamics (eBook, PDF) von Dale ~ Finite difference methods, spectral methods, finite element method, flux-corrected methods and TVC schemes are all discussed. Throughout, the author keeps to a middle ground between the theorem-proof formalism of a mathematical text and the highly empirical approach found in some engineering publications. The book establishes a concrete link between theory and practice using an extensive range .
